More pool time, less pitch
Indy Scuba isn’t your traditional brick-and-mortar dive shop—and that’s very intentional. We’re owned by Pat O’Brien, an independent PADI certified instructor, and our focus is strictly on providing the educational fundamentals you need to become a safe, certified diver.

Not a dive shop—by design
A lot of people’s first impression of scuba training is a retail environment: walls of gear, lots of options, and sometimes a not-so-subtle push to buy everything up front.
Indy Scuba is different. Because we’re not built around a storefront, we can keep the emphasis where it belongs—on instruction. That means less sales pitch during class, and more of what you actually came for: learning the sport.
In practical terms, we spend the majority of our time in the pool—not on a salesroom floor twisting your arm.
Our approach: education so you can focus on learning
Scuba should feel exciting, empowering, and approachable. Our job is to teach you the skills and fundamentals that make you a confident, capable diver.
We keep the spotlight on education so your focus can stay on learning—building comfort in the water, understanding the “why” behind the skills, and developing habits that support safe diving.
Learn before you buy
Equipment: we provide it (and keep it maintained)
One of the biggest barriers for new divers is the feeling that you need to buy a full setup before you even know what you like.
We provide all equipment for your training. For you, that means:
- Less sales pitch during class—we’re not trying to turn pool time into shopping time.
- No upfront large investment in equipment—you can learn before you buy.
- No annual maintenance cost and less checked bag fees—especially helpful if you only dive on a yearly cruise or vacation.
And quality matters: all of the equipment you will use during your training is from leading manufacturers and serviced regularly.
Guidance when you’re ready to buy
Some divers prefer to keep it simple and rent when they travel. Others know they want their own gear.
If you’re the kind of diver who prefers to own equipment, we can help you make smart choices without the guesswork. We’ll guide you in selecting equipment to meet your personal needs based on the type of diving you’ll be doing—so you end up with gear that fits your diving, not just a generic checklist.
