What makes our Open Water course feel easy to start
Learning to dive should feel exciting—not intimidating. One of the biggest barriers for new divers is wondering what gear you need (and what it’s going to cost).
That’s why our all-inclusive dive training package provides all equipment during your training at no additional cost to you. Show up ready to learn, and we’ll help you get comfortable with the equipment as part of the process.
The fun part (yes, it’s basically all of it)
The fun part about this course is…well, just about all of it, because learning to dive is incredible. You’ll breathe underwater for the first time—something you’ll never forget—and you’ll build real skills in a structured, supportive progression.
During the course, you’ll make at least five pool dives and four dives at local dive sites under the supervision of your PADI Instructor. Pool sessions are where everything clicks: you practice skills in a controlled environment, ask questions, and get comfortable before heading out for your open water dives.
Three phases, clearly explained
What you will learn (and how the course is structured)
The PADI Open Water Diver course consists of three main phases:
- Knowledge Development — You’ll learn the principles, terminology, and decision-making that make diving safe and enjoyable.
- Confined Water Dives — Skill-building sessions in a pool-like environment where you practice and repeat core scuba skills.
- Open Water Dives — Your checkout dives at local dive sites where you put everything together and earn your certification.
Think of it as a clear progression: learn it, practice it, then do it for real.
eLearning option (and a quick cost note)
Some students prefer to complete the Knowledge Development portion online before meeting up for in-water training. PADI eLearning is an option, and it’s a great fit if you like learning at your own pace.
Because eLearning is purchased through PADI, it typically comes with an additional charge. If you’re considering eLearning, we’re happy to help you choose the best path so you’re set up for a smooth start.
Open water checkout dives: timing matters
Open water checkout dives happen at local dive sites, and timing can be seasonal. If you’re trying to plan around travel, a deadline, or a specific time of year, check in with us before you commit—we’ll help you understand what windows are available and how to keep your training moving.
