Not sure whether tech is for you—or which equipment configuration makes the most sense? Our Discover Tec class is designed for exactly that moment.
In Discover Tec, you’ll have the opportunity to try both:
- Sidemount
- Traditional back-mounted doubles
This is a great way to feel the differences in the water and start to understand which system fits your body, your diving, and the direction you want to take. There’s nothing like hands-on experience to cut through the guesswork.
Sidemount or back-mounted doubles: choose the path that fits
Tech training is not one-size-fits-all. Some divers love the flexibility and feel of sidemount. Others prefer the familiarity and structure of traditional doubles. Both can be excellent approaches—what matters is choosing the system that best supports your goals and then training with intention.
That’s why we like starting with real water time and real feedback. Once you’ve felt the options, it’s much easier to commit confidently to a training route and build from there.
Safety, mindset, and what it takes to earn a certification
Technical diving has added risks. We’ll be straight with you about that. At the same time, statistics indicate that properly trained and equipped tech divers are just as safe as the average recreational diver.
The key phrase is properly trained and equipped. Tech training asks more of you: more awareness, more discipline, more follow-through. You’ll grow fast—but you have to bring the right attitude.
Also, we want to set expectations clearly: enrollment in our tech courses does not guarantee certification. Only your hard work, combined with the right approach to this type of diving, will ensure your success.
