Enriched Air Diver

Get more no-decompression time with nitrox—one of the most useful specialties you can earn.

Why divers love nitrox

Enriched Air (Nitrox) is one of those specialties that pays off on real dives immediately. It’s also PADI’s most popular specialty course—and it’s easy to see why: diving with enriched air nitrox can give you more no-decompression time, which often means more time underwater, especially on repetitive scuba dives.

If you’re already certified and looking for the next step that genuinely expands what you can do on a dive trip (without turning your life into a new hobby of spreadsheets and gear changes), the PADI Enriched Air Diver course is a great move.

The fun part: more underwater time

A lot of specialties are about adding a new environment or a new task. Enriched Air is different—it’s about getting more out of the dives you’re already doing.

When you use enriched air nitrox, you can typically stay down longer and get back in the water sooner. That’s why so many divers choose Enriched Air as their very first specialty—it’s practical, widely used, and it makes a noticeable difference on common dive profiles.

Skills you’ll actually use

What you learn in the PADI Enriched Air Diver course

We’ll focus on the knowledge and skills that let you use nitrox confidently and responsibly. You’ll learn:

  • Techniques for getting more dive time by using enriched air nitrox
  • Enriched air scuba diving equipment considerations
  • Enriched air considerations, including managing oxygen exposure
  • How to tell what’s in your scuba tank
  • How to set your dive computer for the mix you’re using

The goal is simple: you should leave the course understanding how to plan nitrox dives, stay within limits, and use your equipment and computer correctly.

Learning materials you’ll use

PADI training is supported by dedicated learning materials. The Enriched Air Diver crew-pak includes all required materials* to complete PADI’s Enriched Air Diver specialty.

It includes:

  • The Enriched Air Diver Manual, covering procedures for diving with enriched air (up to 40%)
  • The Enriched Air Diving video on DVD, which demonstrates step-by-step how to plan a dive using multiple dive tables
  • The 32% and 36% tables and the DSAT Oxygen Exposure tables

\*The RDPT™ used in the PADI Open Water Diver course is required, but not included with this crew-pak.

Is Enriched Air right for you?

If you’re a certified diver who wants to:

  • maximize no-decompression time,
  • feel less “rushed” at depth,
  • make repetitive diving days more comfortable to plan,

…this course belongs near the top of your list.

And if you’ve heard nitrox talked about like it’s only for “serious divers,” we’ll happily demystify that. The course is designed to be approachable and useful—because the real value is in doing the basics correctly every time.
